Whether you're moving into a new space in North Kansas City, Liberty, or Parkville, an office relocation is one of the highest-risk events for your technology. A little planning prevents a lot of downtime. Here's the checklist we use with clients.
4โ6 weeks out
- Order internet/circuits for the new location early โ install lead times are the #1 cause of move-day delays
- Plan the network and Wi-Fi layout for the new floor plan (a site survey avoids dead zones)
- Schedule phone system moves and number porting
- Inventory all equipment and label everything
1โ2 weeks out
- Confirm cabling and electrical are ready in server/network areas
- Verify a current, tested backup before anything is unplugged
- Coordinate the moving sequence so critical systems come up first
Move day
- Power down and transport equipment safely
- Stand up the network and firewall first, then servers, then workstations
- Test internet, phones, printing, and key apps before staff arrive
The easy way
Our managed IT clients hand the whole thing to us โ we plan it, coordinate vendors, and make sure everyone's productive on the first morning in the new space. Got a move coming up? Let's plan it.
